Indie-Pop, Twee, Lo-Fi

When I decided to throw this album up here I couldn’t decide on a tag, well I guess I did but it was hard. iji is indie pop sure, but twee leader Zach Burba seems to border Pavement indie-rock on some tracks. This leaves a gritty taste on the listener and that’s not a bad thing. Okay, iji doesn’t have the best vocals and most of the songs are pretty poorly recorded (it’s an old album as it is) but isn’t that why we love Lo-Fi Indie-Pop? iji represents everything joyful about music, from down to earth lyrics to nice music. I highly recommend this to fans of the acoustic Math the Band albums. Also, as stated before, this is an old album that was given away for free. I doubt this is his best work, keep that in mind.

P.S. Zach is playing a HUGE tour this summer, check the myspace.
