Waterdeep-Pink & Blue

pink and blue
Folk, Indie Pop

Write-up by sickofjesus, taken from What.CD:
A band I grew fond of during my Christian-dabbling years, Waterdeep’s latest effort–a double EP, a blue disc for husband Don Chaffer’s works, pink for wife Lori Chaffer’s–has made clear to me that this is no longer just some worship band, but a bona fide indie folk-pop/rock outfit. Leaving behind any overtly religious sentiment, this mother and father of two have taken a page from Mates of State’s book and have created a more solid, better-structured set of songs post-parenthood than in their younger days. Both EPs hold their own, offering their fair share of hooks, both with a blend of youthful anthems (‘Life of the Party’, ‘Right Before’) and introspective hum-alongs (‘Oh,’ ‘I Rolled Into New Year’s Eve’). An album tailored to grown-up children, many should find something worthwhile here.
