Twee-Pop, Pop-Punk

Being the They Might Be Giants whore I am, I decided to download an album by the band that did the original version of “New York City” which TMBG covered on their album “Factory Showroom”. This band is actually really cool, it’s a trio of three women who worked at a radio station together. They had no idea how to play instruments, but they loved music as a whole. The girls decide it was time to form a band. A couple (or many) practices later, cub is formed. There’s definitely a pop punk influence, especially in the guitar work. I don’t want to say pop punk overtakes everything; the melodies are catchy as hell, and the lyrics are clever. But if you’re into the pop punk, female vocals thing DL this.
