John Linnell-House of Mayors

Filed under: Albums — Teddy @ 1:23 am

Experimental, Alternative

John Linnell is one half of They Might Be Giants, though he made some solo stuff back in the 90s. This was made for other band leader John Flansburgh’s shortly lived record “label”. As I understand this is a pretty rare release due to few copies actually made. I got it from a person on a certain private torrent tracker, otherwise I haven’t seen it on any blogs. The songs themselves are about mayors of New York City, a couple of Processionals, and a cover of “Will You Love Me In December As You Do In May?” which is beautiful. Most of the songs have a Residents-esque style to them. Linnell undeniably makes some great, but very bizarre music.
