Right now it’s me, Ryan, and our friend Simon. We would like two (give or take) more people! The idea of this new blog is to be way cleaner than Geroni and have more updates. So far so good I’d say. I also want to say that I handled Geroni pretty poorly. Updates were few and far and post quality was just not well done.

Anyways, I know we were just starting to actually get some traffic but whatevs! How To Be So Real should be better and bigger, and that’s exactly what we’re going for. Catch ya on the flip side!

I saw this band open for Dan Deacon last night. They put on an amazing show, and were probably the best opening band I’ve ever seen. Four of the members, who play instruments, have these alien-like heads on them while the other five sing. One of these “aliens” job is to hold a mic up to an amp while to make noise while editing it with a dial and running around. Yeah, that mixed in with the general Wham City sound should give you an idea of how they are. Definitely go see them if they’re in your area, I know I sure will.

The Prodigy is a well-known band with alot of great songs, and this new album is no exception.  Blending Rave music with Big Beat, this album is one of the catchiest I’ve heard this year, and not to mention it’s just plain badass.  From pounding electro-beats like the title track to blends of different instruments in songs like “Stand Up”, this album fails to dissapoint.  And not to mention, it’s the first Prodigy album with all three members on it since “The Fat of the Land” in 1997.

Lately we’ve had an influx of beachy-pop albums. This could be the case with this album, it does sound brighter. However, in typical Bradford spirit, the album has an autumn/winter sound. Check it out, it’s one of the best of the year.

The Music Tapes Julian Koster is back with a brand new song dedicated to (the once former) planet Pluto! This song is in typical Music Tapes fashion; a saw takes the lead with other sorts of odd instrumentation as well as a repeating chorus line. It’s good and makes me want Julian’s new album even more. Check out the video, probably the best thing I’ve seen all year, plus it has an appearance by Kevin Barnes!

This album has been under fire from alot of fans of MSTRKRFT’s first album, for the simple fact that there’s so many collaborations between them and rap artists or other musicians.  Personally, I really enjoy this album and find it very danceable.  I’ve included two previews.  One of just MSTRKRFT rocking out, and one of a rap collaboration.  Enjoy.

This album is way too good not to share.

This is possibly my favorite album of the year.  A lot of people seem to think it’s a weak follow-up to their first album “Girls and Weather” that I’ll likely be posting in the next week or two.  Personally, I like the fact that this album slowed down from their first album’s ska-like feeling.  So, go ahead and give this a download and make sure you keep a look out for their first album going up in the next week or two.

My cousin told me to listen to this band because they “sound like My Bloody Valentine meets Animal Collective”. He was totally right. Expect this band to be the newest, biggest thing in the next few years.
