Taking a break from hipster week…
Adam Goren of Atom and His Package is probably more important than you might think. Without him bands like Matt and Kim, Math the Band, and Best Fwends might not exist (or at least be something very different). Adam uses synths (dubbed “the package”), sampled drums, and distorted guitars. The result is electro-punk and he was the first to find this great genre. Sure some of the synths are cheesy, but that is why this genre is awesome in the first place. The lyrics are often inside jokes that are explained as the song continued or a story that is expanded on. There’s also a Mountain Goats cover. Anyways, if you want something different then what you’re listening check this out.
